Since they're new Halo 3 Achievements, if i get more then 1000G can i still get the Katana Sword and security?

Lets say that i get like 38 out of the original 49 achievements. Then i get some of the new achievements (like the achievements for the Mythic map pack for example). And the total Gamer points is over 1000 (which is needed to get the Katana Sword and Security head). Will i still get them both? or will i have to get all the original 49 achievements?
I think so. The katana and the ODST helm was originally awarded to people who completed the Halo 3 achievement list. But I wouldn't have thought they'd change it because of the update. As far as I know, as long as you get all of the original achievements before the update, you should be awarded the katana and helm.
