How to strengthening shoulders for dealing with recoil?

I would like to know what exercises to do to help out.

I'm not very strong and I have trouble shooting any high powered rifles like a .30-06, or 12 gauge shotguns. My shoulder quickly becomes sore, even with recoil pads, very quickly making it impossible to get a decent target practice session, or do trap, with higher powered weapons.

Also, being a 21 year old man I'd rather give up shooting than not be able to fire a man's weapon. Any help is highly appreciated.

A man's weapon??????

Women shoot too and some women are BETTER shots than men.

The only way to deal with recoil, in my opinion, is to work your way up. Don't go straight to shooting a high caliber or large gauge gun. Start with smaller calibers, then once you are comfortable with them, go to the next larger size. Once your comfortable with that, go to another larger caliber and do that until you are comfortable with shooting larger calibers.

Also, you may not have the butt of the stock in the right spot on your shoulder. There's a little "pocket" where the butt of the gun will fit really well. If you have a loose grip on the gun and don't have it pulled tight against your shoulder, you allow more room between the butt of the gun and your shoulder which means that there's more space for the gun to 'move back'.

A man's gun... I'm 5'1, and a GIRL, and I can shoot a 12 ga with no problem, only because I've worked my way up.

If you really enjoy shooting, find a caliber or gauge that has an amount of recoil that you can handle for a good couple 100 rounds. Why give up something you enjoy? If you like shotguns- look into a 20 or 16 ga. Both are nice guns but 16 ga ammo isn't as common as 20 and 12 ga ammo. Persistance is key. :)

Look for a caliber you like, and keep looking till you find the caliber and gun combo that fits YOU and you'll enjoy it for MANY years.
