Muay Thai: have you ever had ankle pain/injury? Did it get better?
you know when you get pain in your ankle or wrist. I have pain in my left ankle but it only hurts when I put weight on it like skipping, bouncing on the balls of my feet, when I start running, or kicking a pad and it hits close to the ankle. It doesn't seem sprained or broken though.
Is there a crack or what could it be? maybe it is sprained?
Has anyone had this kind of ankle injury? what do you think it is? how did you heal it? still ok to train?
I would recommend you get an xray, just to make sure nothing is seriously wrong with it. If not, then it might just be a strain of some sort. It is very common amongst trainers of all types of Martial Arts, because you are on it a lot and especially with Muay Thai you would be using it more than normal. If nothing is seriously wrong, all you can do is ice it every chance you can. The training part is up to you. For example, I get this sometimes, but I know my own body's capabilities, what it can or cannot do. So, if you think you can still handle the training, then still do it. If it still hurts, you might want to tape it (works more effectively than ankle braces). Another option would be to stay off of it for about a week or two and see if it feels any better or the same. If it feels better, then take it easy and stay off of it for a while until you can gradually go back. But I think it is going to be a nagging injury. Doing Martial Arts or any type of fighting, you are running the risk of getting hurt. I have many injuries that will never fully heal. They are all just nagging injuries that will come out whenever they please. At some point you just have to learn to deal with it or let it beat you.
I had an ankle injury once. The doctors said it would be six months before I could go back to training, or even put any pressure on it. I just iced it everyday and slowly did some exercises to put pressure on it, and at the end of about two months I was able to go back into training, so it also depends on you.
But regardless, do check it out first and make sure there is nothing seriously wrong before you chance making it worse.
Hope this helps, good luck.
