Is Jiu Jitsu,wrestling and boxing a good start for MMA?
i am going to start jiu jitsu soon and have a good wrestling background and have some Tae Kwon do and a little boxing so could i be a good MMA fighter?
These days, MMA has almost become a style all its own. Almost everyone who gets in the cage trains in some combination of BJJ, Wrestling, Boxing, and Muy Thai. Some judo is also useful. While some skill in each of these areas is necessary, each fighter will focus on one (or more) areas and have different strengths and weaknesses.
You didn't mention your age or experience level. For high school age (and below) I generally advise them to concentrate on wrestling and add some BJJ/submission wrestling if you can.
At some point, if you really want to get into MMA, you need to get into a gym that trains MMA. Jiu Jitsu, as applied to MMA is different from a BJJ gi class. Boxing for MMA is different than boxing. Training in the individual arts will give you a great base to start from, but if you can get into an MMA gym, by all means do so.
