Softball Mitt Questions?
I am trying out for my school softball team and I need some help with my mitt. I have been told to measure my hand from the tip of my index finger to the base of my hand/my wrist. I have done this and got 5 inches. (Yes, I am 14 but I'm EXTREMELY tiny). There are no REAL SOFTBALL gloves (like, not toy ones or tee-ball ones) of this size. Any suggestions? Also, my coach said to break the glove in, you wrap it around a softball with bungee cords and put it on the lowest setting for 3 hours, then take it out and crinkle it up for an hour, then repeat. Is this advisable? Please help!!
What you need to do is go to the nearest sporting goods store and try on the different gloves they have thee until you find one that is comfortable on your hand. That's really the best way to find a glove. How many inches you hand is really doesn't help.
I don' recommend doing too much to break in a new glove. Most come already broken in enough so you don't need to go through what he's saying. You can, and some people do, but you really don't have to. Just play catch as much as you can with it. That will be good enough.
Good luck and have fun.
