Does this sound like jealousy?
So, one of my best friends I've known for years and i have been having a fallout of some kind.
Over the past four months, I got fed up with not being confident, not happy with myself and always being 'out of the loop' when it cames to friends and parties.
So, unlike him, I did something about it. I took up Kick Boxing, got a life coach, and started reading books on self-improvement by the truck loads.
Not I'm in phenomenal shape, very goal-oriented, and my social circle is large and expanding, I can finally get girls (a lot of them) and I'm extremely happy.
He's not.
He never tried to improve himself, and is always getting mad at me and calling me out. calling me a 'sell out,' and such. telling me I ditched him for the 'cool kids.'
He's been my friend forever, but I'm getting sick of this. I've tried to motivate him but he's not having it
How do I handle this situation?
I've decided I'm done with this loser and I'm going to move on in my life without him
Some people are just negative and there's nothing you can do or say to change them. They have to want the change themselves. Ever hear the saying 'You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink'? Well this pertains to your friend. You, yourself, have proven that it can be done. You have set your friend up with every possible tool that is avaliable, but you can't make him change if he doesn't want to (or isn't ready to). All you can do is try to stay positive around him. Happiness is contagious! 
If he continues to make remarks then simply cut back the amount of time that you spend with each other. Eventually he will get the hint that you won't tolerate being put down for bettering yourself. It may take some time, but I'm sure that he'll come around. Good luck!
