boxing help. Im short and my friends are all taller than me and always kick my butt?
Every now and then me and my friends will all box each other but unfortunately i am the short one in the group and everybody has a lot of reach on me. When im boxing i tend to back away when my friends are swinging at me and i know it shows my friends that they have the dominance over me. I want to be able to kick their butts too.... are short guys supposed to be closer to their opponent instead of backing away? i heard its good for a shorter person to be closer because the taller person wont be able to land as strong punches on you...

I don't see how jabs would work for you if your the smaller and shorter man. Jabs are supposed to keep opponents off bay, why would you want to keep your taller and longer opponents off bay? They could destroy you from a distance!
The way I see it, you have two options:
1.) Use a peak-a-boo style ala Mike Tyson
Keep your center of gravity low, cover your whole body and your face with your arms (only showing your eyes), and always press the fight inward. If you see an opening, go for the power shots. Obviously, this will only work if you know you have the power advantage and you can take some punishment as long as they won't hit you in critical areas.
2.) use a Bruce Lee style ala Manny Pacquiao.
Bounce around constantly and keep your head moving. When you see an opening, jump in, land a combination, and move out. If your opponent is a bit quick, just land single blows and immediately jump out. It would help if you can shoot rare angled shots other than straights and hooks, just to keep your opponent confused. Obviously, this would only work if you have a huge speed advantage over your opponents.
