Who would win in a fight to the finish between martial artists in aikido and judo?
Here is the specifics of the fight:
- The judoka and aikidoka or both same age, same height, same reach, all physical attributes are the exact same.
- The aikidoka is allowed to fight defensively and not force the fight.
- But the fight continues until one is ko'd, tko'd, or submitted.
- This is a one on one fight.
- There are no Martial Arts Gloves.
- Each is wearing there judoka and aikidoka uniforms
- They can only use the techniques that are found in a textbook of Morihei Ueshiba style aikido for the aikidoka and olympic style judo for the judoka.
- It is a pure style on style clash.
- They both have trained to 1st degree Black Belt level.
Who would win in this fight?
Okay, if all things are equal and it is simply skill against skill I would go with the Judoka. here is why. Aikido, though a very good art for defending ones self in a bar brawl or on the street against a wild fighting opponent, is simply not as suited to fighting a measured disciplined fighter. Also Aikido has littlle or no offemnsive techniques and the Aikidoka would be forced to counter the Judoka, and odds are good that he wouldn't be able to. Lastly weather people believe it or not Segal is actually a very skilled Aikidoka and even taught in JApan. However, there are a number of reports that, enough that Segal would have refuted it if it where false, that on a movie set they came to blows and Gene, 20 years the senior of the two, choked out Segal till he wet himself.
