What is better elastic bands? or spring bands that are permanent? for braces.?
I just got the elastic gum bands that you put on your braces, and there are alot of people saying that the bands that are permanent they are kinda like coil/spring and they can only come out if the ortho takes it out, well people were saying that is better then the elastic bands that you can remove. which is better? because I can't stand these elastic bands. Thank you.
A lot of the time it's actually the orthodontist's decision of what they think is best. When I've cleaned patients' teeth with each kind, I find the wires tend to trap more food, like LARGER pieces of food. They can also be sharp sometimes if they poke out. I'm also not sure if your orthodontist would want to put them on all the teeth, I've only seen them used scatterdly for specific areas (sometimes the elastic little band won't fit over a bracket). The only bad thing I'd say about the elastic little bands would be if you get a clear colour, it can turn yellow-ish before it's time to have them switched. So pick more of a solid colour and you won't run into any issues of it staining
