Is 'tai zu chang quan' the same as the normal 'chang quan long fist'?
i wish to do chang quan long fist, and tai zu chang quan is what they offer, just wondering if anyone knows if its different, or it it the same?
Also is shaolin quan similar to chang quan?

If you're referring to the chang quan compulsory routine seen at wushu tournaments and demonstrations, then no, Taizu chang quan is very different. Chang quan simply means long fist and generally refers to Northern Chinese Martial Arts as opposed to nan quan which refers to Southern Chinese Martial arts. These are general terms, but since the onset of modern wushu two compulsory routines were created to represent the two general categories of Northern and Southern Chinese martial arts. Taizu Chang Quan is a more traditional Shaolin Martial Art that is attributed to Emperor Taizu of the Song Dynasty.
From the choreography alone, the two look very different. The wushu Chang Quan compulsory routine is very flashy and acrobatic, while the Taizu Changquan is more grounded and traditional. They are both excellent forms to learn and have a lot to teach the student. Here are a couple of videos:
