Are glove wraps just as good as traditional hand wraps for boxing?

i'm a begginer and looking to begin taking lessons and i was told hand wraps were required. Secondary question is which brands are superior?

I've found that the glove wraps are OK for real light bag work. As soon as you start getting some real power behind those punches, though, if your hands aren't toughened up, you'll be hurting. I would start with the traditional wraps. They just seem to work better for me.

If you go to group classes for your training, you'll be putting your Boxing Gloves on and taking them off quite a bit for Focus Mitt training, etc. The glove wraps can get in the way.

Also, of the four instructors I've had, they all required traditional wraps.

Lastly, I'd go for TOP CONTENDER brand. I use the mexican-style, which is semi-elastic and suitable for straight boxing and MMA as well (if you ever decide to go that route).
