Technical Sparring Question?
When you are sparring, and you switch feet, as in going from right foot back to left foot back....
Do you go slightly airborne and "jump" into position, or do you slide your feet lighting keeping them on the ground throughout the switch?
I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who do karate styles, TKD, boxing, Muay Thai and MMA people. If you do TKD, please specify WTF, ITF, ATA, or other.
James
For those of you that did not, please specify what you train in. If it's TKD, then specify the type.
Also, when I say airborne, I mean, as someone else said, just slightly off the ground, less than an inch off the ground.
It's a minor difference between keeping the balls of your feet in contact throughout the switch, versus keeping some air between your foot and the ground.
Also, I don't mean stealing any distance with the switch, just switching.
slide....don't jump.... you tend to telegraph if you jump, it takes longer....and leaves you vulnerable....
