would I be able to teach myself Martial Arts?

I don't have the money for lessons. But my crush ( i am gay) is a Black Belt taekwondo. She and I are not in the same state. She lives 1400 miles away from me.
I was in her class. So I know the sport. I am a yellow belt in HWG Taekwondo. I am a recommended black belt in Karate.

hello,

well, there are two elements in your follow up that have nothing to do with your question.

a crush of any kind is irrelevant, as is geographic separation from said crush.

you mention not having money for lessons. what sort of lessons are you looking for?

often, there are organizations that will conduct training (of varying sorts) for little or no charge.

most judo dojos charge around 30 dollars monthly.
wrestling clubs charge a seasonal (one time) fee. it varies, but is around 50 dollars.
ymca's offer karate, tkd and jiujitsu sometimes. low price.
police departments have boxing clubs and such. you could ask them. public agencies typically have low prices as well (if they charge at all)

now then. let us assume that you just don't have ANYONE around to train you.

if you get a training partner or two, and some instructional dvds, you should be able to get some work done. if you and your training partners are regulars (reliable, consistent), you might pool some money and get someone to come out and give you a seminar. this should get you going.

understand that there are risks inherent in training, and if you don't have someone qualified watching over you, you could hurt each other.

but it is POSSIBLE.

good luck to you.

thanks
